Hiraoka wins the FIS World Cup Halfpipe Competition

Taku Hiraoka, from Japan wins the FIS World Cup snowboarding halfpipe February 14th.  It took place in Sochi, Russia with really warm weather that all the snowboarders competing were complaining about.  The temperatures were low from 46 to a high of 54 degrees.  This turned the slopes into slush which was not fun to snowboard in.  Hiraoka got 90.25 points and in second place while in second place Iouri Podladtchikov from Switzerland came in second with 84.50 points and Scott Lago from the US came in third with 83.25 points.

  1. Wow, i had no idea that snowboarding is as popular in other countries that is here in the United States. And I never took into consideration how the warmer weather can change for conditions for the people competing. I guess that is something that is uncontrollable and they will have to make what weather conditions work for the competition.
